The Cranberries: Após 1 ano da morte da vocalista Dolores O’Riordan, grupo lança primeiro single de seu último álbum, ‘All Over Now’

De acordo com um comunicado, o último álbum começou a ser pensado por volta de maio de 2017 e, por conta disso, teve a participação da artista no processo de criação. “Dolores estava tão animada com a ideia de fazer essas gravações e voltar para a estrada para tocar as músicas ao vivo”, relembrou Noel Hogan, guitarrista do The Cranberries.

Dolores e Hogan compuseram e chegaram a gravar demos para onze novas músicas, que foram agora utilizadas no próximo lançamento. O companheiro de trajetória comentou ainda sobre a dificuldade em prosseguir com o projeto após a morte da vocalista. Em declaração, ele disse: “Nós sabíamos que esse tinha que ser um dos melhores – senão O melhor – álbum dos Cranberries que nós poderíamos fazer”.

Segundo o guitarrista, a ideia de levar o projeto adiante para homenagear Dolores ganhou força quando avaliava as canções preparadas. “Uma vez que passamos por todas as demos que eu e ela trabalhamos juntos e decidimos que era um álbum forte, nós sabíamos que era a melhor coisa e a melhor forma de honrar Dolores”.

A Message from the band about their new album ‘In The End’ In early 2017, the four of us got together to rehearse for the ‘Something Else’ Tour. During rehearsals, we discussed many times how great it would be to write and work on new material for a new album… And the prospect of writing and working on new material for a new album was very exciting. By December 2017, Dolores had completed and recorded the vocals to final demo stage on the eleven songs which feature on this recording, and we had planned to go into the studio to complete the album in early 2018. After Dolores’ devastating and unexpected passing in January 2018, we took some time out and put all plans on hold. As time passed, we began to think about how we might best honour our close friend and bandmate. This was a very painful process. We remembered how Dolores had been so energised by the prospect of making this record and getting back out on the road to play the songs live, and realised that the most meaningful thing to do was to finish the album we had started with her. We felt that this is what she would want. We spoke with Dolores’ family and they agreed. It was a very emotional process for us. Knowing that we would never get to play these songs live made it even more difficult. There was also an overwhelming sense of finality knowing that this was the last time that we would be in the same studio together working on a Cranberries album. We would like to take the chance to thank all our families and friends as well as Dolores’ family and friends, and all those work worked with the band over the years. And to our fans, who have stood by us for almost thirty years; thank you, without you, none of this would have been possible. It has been an incredible journey. We dedicate this album to our dear friend and bandmate Dolores. She will always be with us in her music. Eileen O’Riordan, mãe da vocalista, também falou hoje sobre a perda da filha e o novo álbum. “Sinto falta dela terrivelmente, assim como toda a família. Dito isso, não consigo pensar em uma forma mais adequada de comemorar o primeiro aniversário de sua partida e celebrar sua vida do que anunciar para o mundo o lançamento do seu último álbum com o grupo. Ela estava tão animada com esse novo álbum e estava realmente aguardando por sua estréia. Eu não tenho dúvidas de que ela está feliz agora e encantada com esse anúncio”, disse Eileen em seu emocionante relato.

A cantora esteve à frente do grupo irlandês que fez sucesso pelo mundo todo nos anos 1990. ‘Linger’, ‘Dreams’ e ‘Zombie’ foram alguns dos seus grandes hits que agitaram o cenário pop da época. Em janeiro de 2018, aos 46 anos, Dolores foi encontrada, já sem vida, após afogamento por conta de uma intoxicação alcoólica. O novo single ‘All over now’ já está disponível em plataformas digitais, enquanto ‘In The End’, o tão aguardado álbum, está previsto para o final de abril de 2019. Ouçam a canção:
