Faltam poucas horas para o MTV Video Music Awards 2024! O evento, que premia artistas, músicas e videoclipes, acontece nesta quarta-feira (11), em Nova York, nos Estados Unidos. Performances aguardadas devem agitar a noite, como as de Sabrina Carpenter, LISA, Shawn Mendes, Karol G, e da nossa poderosa Anitta. A premiação será comandada por Megan Thee Stallion, e promete momentos memoráveis com Katy Perry recebendo o troféu ‘Michael Jackson Vanguard Award’.
A lista de apresentações inclui ainda Camila Cabello, Chappell Roan, Halsey, Lenny Kravitz, Rauw Alejandro, LL Cool J, GloRilla, Benson Boone e a própria anfitriã. Anitta, que se apresentará pela terceira vez na premiação, disse à revista People que mostrará um medley de “Savage Funk” e “Alegria”. Ela também fará a estreia mundial de “Paradise”, parceria com Fat Joe e DJ Khaled. Já Eminem será o responsável pelo show de abertura do VMA deste ano.
E os fãs de k-pop não ficarão insatisfeitos, pois as idols do Le Sserafim prometem brilhar no pré-show do evento. Katy Perry será a grande homenageada da noite, com o ‘Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award’, prêmio que celebra a carreira de artistas que tiveram um grande impacto na indústria musical norte-americana. A honraria já foi entregue a nomes como Beyoncé, Britney Spears, Shakira, Madonna, Rihanna e Michael Jackson. Ela ainda relembrará seus maiores hits no palco.
Entre a lista de indicados, Taylor Swift lidera, por mais um ano, com 12 indicações, incluindo “Vídeo do Ano”, “Artista do Ano” e “Canção do Ano”. Até o final desta noite, a cantora poderá se tornar a mulher com mais prêmios do evento da história do VMA, e superar Beyoncé. Ao todo, Bey já recebeu 25 como artista solo – ou 29, incluindo os trabalhos com o antigo grupo Destiny’s Child e o marido, Jay-Z. Por enquanto, a loirinha acumula 23.
Post Malone vem em seguida, com nove indicações. “Fortnight’, sua colaboração com Swift, foi a canção mais indicada deste ano. Logo após aparecem Ariana Grande, Eminem e Sabrina Carpenter, com seis cada, e Megan Thee Stallion e SZA, com cinco. LISA, Olivia Rodrigo e Teddy Swims foram lembrados quatro vezes. Já a nossa Girl From Rio bateu recorde para um artista brasileiro e recebeu três indicações, com o hit “Mil Veces” nas categorias “Melhor Edição” e “Melhor Clipe Latino”, e “Bellakeo”, sua parceria com Peso Pluma, para “Melhor Clipe Latino”.
O MTV VMA 2024 estava programado, inicialmente, para 10 de setembro, entretanto, acabou transferido para o dia seguinte, devido ao debate presidencial dos Estados Unidos, entre Kamala Harris e Donald Trump. A nova data coincidiu ao trágico dia do atentado às torres gêmeas do World Trade Center e, por isso, os lucros da premiação serão doados para as organizações 9/11 Day e Tuesday’s Children.
