O evento, que será transmitido ao vivo, a partir das 21h, na MTV Brasil, promete! Isso porque, segundo a emissora, a noite será recheada de surpresas, momentos musicais e, é claro, performances dos maiores e melhores da música. Entre eles, teremos a presença da rainha Anitta, que será a primeira brasileira a se apresentar no VMAs, o ruivinho Ed Sheeran, nosso muso Shawn Mendes, o incrível Lil Nas X, a princesinha do Detran, Olivia Rodrigo, e muito mais!

Infelizmente, Lorde, que havia sido escalada como uma das atrações, cancelou sua participação no último minuto. Em uma newsletter enviada aos fãs, a artista explicou por que desistiu do evento. “Estávamos planejando uma performance de dança íntima de muitos corpos, insanamente incrível, não entendendo totalmente os (muito necessários!) protocolos de segurança que estão em vigor. As máscaras e o distanciamento significavam que não seria o que eu sonhei, e vocês sabem que eu não posso fazer algo menos do que excelente para vocês”, pontuou.

O comando da noite ficará nas mãos de Doja Cat, artista que faz história na premiação — isso porque ela é a primeira apresentadora do VMAs a também ser indicada na categoria de Vídeo do Ano. Poderosa mesmo! Já a entrega dos prêmios e apresentação das categorias serão realizadas por grandes nomes do mundo artístico: Billie Eilish, Aj Mclean, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Ashanti, Avril Lavigne, Billy Porter, Conor Mcgregor, Cyndi Lauper, Fat Joe, Hailey Bieber, Halle Bailey, Ja Rule, Lance Bass, Megan Fox, Nick Lachey, Rita Ora, Simone Biles e, ainda, Travis Barker.

Pela primeira vez, a MTV concederá o “U.S. Global Icon Award”. O novo prêmio — inspirado no “Global Icon Award”, do MTV Europe Music Awards — celebra um artista ou banda cuja carreira, impacto e influência no cenário musical proporcionou sucesso global na música e além. A homenageada da noite será a icônica banda de rock Foo Fighters — composta por Dave Grohl, Nate Mendel, Pat Smear, Taylor Hawkins, Chris Shiflett e Rami Jaffee.
